Trieste is a city in the Nordenosten of Italy at the homonymous Gulf, at the Slovenian border with 200,000 inhabitants on an area of 85 square kilometers. The elaborately restored, winding streets are home to archaeological treasures from the 1st century, such as the ruins of Teatro Romano or the Jesuit church of Santa Maria Maggiore in baroque design. Landmark of Trieste Cathedral San serves as however Giusto, which is located above the town on a hill. Remains of mosaics from the 5th century are still visible here.
